About the catalogue

Why sixteen and not sixteen hundred

Most "free games" sites are aggregators. They embed whatever they can licence, wrap it in three layers of advertising and count the total. We went the other way: everything on GamerSpotter is written in-house, kept under about sixty kilobytes, and tested on the sort of hardware people actually own — including a school Chromebook that we keep specifically because it is slow.

That means the catalogue grows by 2–3 titles a month rather than hundreds a week. In exchange, nothing here has a broken embed, a mystery pop-up, or a control scheme that quietly fails on a touchscreen. If a game is on this page, it is finished and it works.

What every game gives you

  • Full keyboard controls and full touch controls, listed on the game's own page.
  • A personal best kept in your own browser, with nothing uploaded anywhere.
  • A restart button and a fullscreen toggle that do not require reloading the page.
  • No adverts, no interstitials, no countdown before you can press play.
