About Memory Pairs

Concentration with a deck of illustrated symbols instead of playing cards. Turn two over: matches stay up, misses flip back after a beat. It is the friendliest game in the catalogue and the one most likely to be beaten by a seven-year-old.

How to play

  • Turn over two cards per attempt.
  • A matching pair stays face up.
  • Clear all nine pairs. Flips and time are both tracked.

Tips from the people who built it

  • Work along one row at a time so new cards land in a pattern you can remember.
  • Say the symbol names in your head. Words stick better than pictures.
  • When you find a card you have seen, flip that one first, not a fresh one.
